Steam curls up from the cup,
the clever phone glows awake before I do —
headlines stacked like dominoes,
one nation’s storm, another nation’s calm,
a stray cat rescued, a market down.
I sip. I scroll. I sip again.
The coffee doesn’t care what the world did overnight,
it just asks to be tasted, slow,
while the kettle of bad news cools
beside the good, both losing heat the same way.
Outside, the light hasn’t decided yet
what kind of day this will be —
unlike me. I’ll carry the warm cup
and leave the rest to the cyber world,
hoping, like every morning, today tips good.
